A customizable trashcan for OS X desktops
for those who still miss the one in OS 9.


iCan is is a trashcan for OS X which sits on the desktop. It's interactive - it appears empty when it's empty, and full when it's full, just like the one in OS 9.

You can drag to it, unmount disks with it, click it to open the trash folder, and it responds to the Finder's command-delete.

If you like variation, you can switch to another trashcan – iCan is customizable using any of the included iCan Themes.

And if you wish to make your own themes, it's easy – instructions are provided.

iCan's customize options can let you choose from any of the suppied iCan themes, set the trash to any size from 32 to 128 pixels, play sounds for moving to trash and emptying it, customize the caption.

Other options include force delete to delete stubborn items, drag locked items to the trash, and overwrite deleted items.

You can selectively delete items from individual disks, and the trash's caption can show it's size and item count.

Assign an command-click,
option-click or double click on the trash to perform tasks like emptying the trash, force delete, etc.

Also, if you're an AppleScripter, you can control iCan via AppleScript.
